About
A fan-made viewer for the monsters of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, with the game's own models, textures and animations. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Capcom.
Each monster is one file in the game: its skeleton, model, textures and animations. The clips are the game's action entries, numbered as the game stores them (the data has no names for them), and play at the game's own 30 frames a second. Some monsters have overlay meshes the game only shows in certain states (rage, glowing parts); the Effects switch shows them. Monster names are the game's own; where the game calls a variant by its base monster's name, the MHFU LookUp app's name is used.
File formats
MHFU-ModKit — by sp00ktober
Its format documentation (PAC, PMO, TMH, skeleton and animation) is what this app's own converter follows. github.com/MHFU-ModKit/modkit
mhff — by Seth VanHeulen
Earlier PSP Monster Hunter file-format work that ModKit's model and texture readers build on. github.com/svanheulen/mhff
three.jsRenders the scene, with GLTFLoader, OrbitControls and SkeletonUtils.
Pillow, NumPy, pycdlibRead the disc image and the game's archive, and converted the textures during the build.
Assets
The monster icons, the monster classes and the list order are the MHFU LookUp app's. The UI textures and the MHFU font are shared with the same author's MHGU fan apps. Monster names come from the game's own text.
