An unofficial, non-commercial fan tool for running a permadeath challenge run in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
Development: Built by the author with substantial help from Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding tool. Most of the code, the data-generation scripts and this page were written with AI assistance, reviewed and directed by the author.
Quest data: the quest list and its Key Quest flags come from the author's own MHGU Quest Randomizer, tracing back to Kiranico. The urgent-quest chain that drives Hunter Rank was hand-sourced from Kiranico and cross-checked in game.
Weapon trees & stats: embedded from the author's mhgu-weapon-trees, itself sourced from Kiranico and JoeLago/MHGUDB-iOS (MIT).
Hunting Horn melodies: from the horn_melodies table of mhgu-collection-tracker's database (JoeLago/MHGUDB-iOS, MIT, tracing to Kiranico).
Crafting recipes: the Craftables lookup is built from Kiranico's Combo List. Only the item names are used; the page itself isn't redistributed.

Per-rarity weapon icons: monsterhunterwiki.org — licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0; these bundled copies stay under that licence.
Hunting Horn note icons: original artwork carried over from the author's mhgu-editor (MIT).
Menu textures and display font: carried over from the MHGU Quest Randomizer, edited from the developer's in-game screenshots.
Theme palette: the 18 Deviants, carried over from the author's MHGU Zenny Gauntlet.

Pick any weapon class. Your first weapon must be root-tier from a Petrified, Iron, or Bone tree — whichever of those exist for that class (every class has Petrified; some lack Iron and/or Bone).
Start with 1 life. Gain +1 life every time Hunter Rank goes up from Hub content specifically — Village rank-ups don't count. A new life always starts at a tree's root, never partway up. Under Basic rules it can be any class; under Advanced rules it must stay your starting class. Chosen once when you start the run.
Failing a quest sells the weapon you failed with, permanently — no replacement. Gathered items are kept; zenny isn't tracked. The run ends when you'd have to sell your last remaining life.
Clear every Hub and Pub Key Quest — Village is left out of this checklist for now, since only Hub/Pub rank-ups grant a weapon life. Grouped here by rank tier; for now, a tier counts as done once every quest in it is checked off (the real trigger is a single "urgent" quest per tier, not yet distinguished in the data).
No Harvest Tours. No completing a quest via an optional subquest shortcut — clear the real main objective. No buying craftable items from the shop.
Chosen once at the start of a run, alongside Weapon Rules. Under Basic quest rules, slaying Ahtal-Ka is Victory. Under Advanced, Ahtal-Ka is a milestone — Victory also needs all three Fatalis, in the same run. Either way the run keeps going once Victory is reached.
